Who...What...& How

Posted on December 6, 2012 at 1:00 AM Comments comments (0)

   Well Hey everyone, :D

I know it's been awhile. Been crazy busy, released three more books in the last month, but I may have a break soon lol. With finals being this week and next week, preparing my students for some prime chaos...muhahaha, j/k.

I probably won’t have the time to write in the next two weeks. :(

With this being the holiday season, I'm rushing to get the 11 books from the TBMD series out there, great stocking stuffers, (I know, shameless huh? LOL) Anyway, I think with my birthday coming up, and Christmas, my wish, is to learn how to be an AUTHOR! :o

I take criticism pretty well, but what bugs me, is when people think one thing, when it’s totally the opposite.

So, you guys know pretty well that I write both the vamp/were and Fae series. My characters have accents, and I just loooove to use British slangs. Nothing send it home like “He’s Tuppin what?” Lol.

Anyway, because of the accents, people seem to mistake them for typos, then either berate my books, or score them low. Now, I wouldn't have a problem if they were crap ( and you guys seem to think not), and it was an honest review; like the story didn’t work for me, the time was off, the characters were hard for me to identify with, or the like. That ‘s fine with me, because I know you can’t please everyone.

However, what I do have a problem with, is when it is a mistake on the readers part.  :/

So,

what I've done, is as thick as it may seem to you guys since you already know my style, I’ve put a word list on the first three pages of the book; and maybe this will help. I won’t change it, because I just feel like, the accents, slangs and what have you give the Characters…CHARACTER.

As a teacher, it truly bugs me for being slammed for grammatical errors, especially when I know there aren’t any. Moreover, if there is, its something minor.

One reader said the book was “Riddled with grammatical & spelling errors. That just hurt, because it's posted on a certain site, so I'm pretty much stuck with it.

Another reader gave me three stars on one of my historical, then commenced to go through the book with a fine tooth comb, and what she pointed out, just seemed so trivial to me. Because she said that she really enjoyed the book, and that just kinda seemed like an oxymoron to me.

Needless to say, my sales for that book plummeted, and I’m only just recovering now, because another reader loved the book and rated it 4 stars. Much Love Pgirl!

But I digress,

As I’ve said, this year my Xmas/B-Day My wish, is to Learn to be an Author.

Charlaine, Laurell, Anne, who y’all do it gurl! I seriously need some help!!!  :o

Pin out! 8)

I truly hope this post didn't offend anyone, just what I felt like today...

The Months have been Cray...Cray

Posted on October 18, 2012 at 3:55 AM Comments comments (0)

So,

last month was cray, cray lol.

I feel so bad;I've neglected the blog for almost two months.

I released 12 titles so far, andwith the marketing stuff I'm doing on my own now, it was completelyinsane.  I re-released Teaching BetweenMidnight and Dawn, because I was completely appalled when an fellow colleagueof mine bought the book, then asked if it had ever been edited.

Believe me; I was mortified:o, especially since I am ateacher.

What I did was basically a re-write, and I swear it'sso much better for it. I'm offering it for free this month on thewww.poisionedpin.webs.com site, so you guys check it out if you like.

 Anyway,

that pretty much sparked the riff between my publishingcompany Eternal Press/Damnation Books and me, because they didn't want tore-edit it; then said that I should have caught the errors. This washysterically funny to me, because that's what the F*** an editor is for. Moreover, the even funnier thing, is, the supposed CEO edited the book, so thatshould have told me something.

For those of you out there looking for a home for yourwork, I'm sending out red flags, red alerts, fireworks, WWII warning systems, and just screaming from the top of my mf lungs, to tell you to stay the hellaway from them! If you wanna hear my horror story, just drop me a line, especially if it can save someone from those baskets!

On a happy note:D, I just released Dark Premonitionstoday, and I can honestly say it looks awesome.

Encase I didn't say it, the lovely young ladies on thecover are all related to me lol.

My daughters are on book 2 and 3, and my niece is onbook 4.

Since they're so lovely, I just decided to use them; plus its free labor tee-hee.

That's pretty much an update on my doings, and each ofthe books are on Amazon now. also, you can read sample chapters on the sites aswell.

A Hellva Month...

Well hey guys…

Its been a while since I’ve actually had time to blog; but since then I got into a tit with my publishing, and unfortunately we parted ways. I know that sounds terrible, but in the end I believe it is to my benefit. We still have some hiccups, and I hope they’re ironed out soon;because I seriously don’t wanna haf to get ghetto!

Anyway,

Other than that, I’m on a high. Datin a new cutie with the most amazing grey- blue eyes, and lashes that would make any woman just hate, (younger than me I mite add too tee-hee. Lovin that hahaha) but above all its his sweetest disposition.

Also, published my first title myself, and I am telling you; when it was done and I saw what I could do, I did my own lil jig lol.

So, since my tit with my company I’ve released Midna’s Farie Tale, Mendacity, Fire &Ice,  A Lad’s Trousers and A Slow Time to Love; all on Amazon so you guys check em out.

As well, I’ve added three new sites besides the poisonedpin;

  www.alieinfante.webs.com, www.farietalewish.webs.com and www.contemporarylove.webs.com

I was over on LinkedIn and there was this thread about websites, and it never dawned on me that I could have one site for each genre; so hence the three new sites hahaha. So head on over and check them out.

On a personal level, I guess I’m inclined to agree with my horoscope for this month, because I have been a busy lil bee. I plan on looking for a new pub company, and have already started soliciting some new ones. Nevertheless, for now I’m just gonna stick with Amazon till I find the right one this time. It was a nightmare, but I won’t bore you guys with the details.

Reviews this month are coming in for Mendacity, Midna’s Farie Tale and Fire & Ice. I’m really stoked by them too.

So far 4 and 5!

Teach Me the Night; kissin cousins is out next month, so look for it to guys. And don’t forget, this month’s contest for a chance to win any of the above.

Missed you guys

Alie out!

This is for the Male in You...

So,

Since Sundays seem to be the only day that I don’t have a million fricken things to do, I’ve decided that I’ll make Sundays blog day. For some reason your body seems to just go into that lazy mode, and won’t come out of it .:)

In my quest for the perfect relaxing Sunday, I did a bit of internet surfing, downloaded some new tunes, and just pretty much vegged; with a cold glass of moscat or as the popular term so deems it, moscato.

And no I didn’t do it wit no hands… :/

Well, my music library is pretty nil now (My music man isn’t home for the summer yet :() especially since it seems like there’s a new hit every five seconds, so I thought I’d replenish it. And since I write Romance, I try to keep my library full of sexy cuts like Trey, Drake, Omarion, Robin Thicke, Bachatas, and even some alternative love songs.

So, in my search for love songs, or just some get down and get nasty music, hahaha, cuz I need that too since I write sensual Paranormal Romance; I paused to think about the slow jam, the alternative love song, or some of that just plain amazing 70s and 80 music that was sung by some relatively hot looking guy who swears that he meant the words that he was singing.

(Lovesongs by women are entirely different), and for today this is about the “Male”lol.

 From

Steven Tyler’s, “Don’t go to Sleep”, Player’s “Baby Come back”, Journey’s “Send Her My Love”, Incubus’ “Wish You were Here”, Mike Posner’s “Please Don’t Go” Nevershoutnever’s “Trouble” Crossfades "Cold" and Trap’s “Echo;” they all seem to imply some romantic sense of what men think. Especially, when that certain woman decides that she’s had enough and walks.

But as I delved deeper into the music, I found myself going back to my roots, R&B, Bichatas, and the like.

My first impression was;  why can’t men really think like this?

Seeing that I write sensual romance, I normally get my creative juices (my brain people) flowing when I listen to music.

If it’s a fight scene, then it’s Evanescence, Nickel Back, Link n’ Park, Three days Grace, Disturbed ect.  If it’s dialogue, then it Michael Bubble’, good old Frank, and 70s & 80s music as a whole.

However, when I get to the intimate scenes or argument scenes where the two main characters are pissed, have a huge fight to which one eventually storms out; I find myself going back to real R&B, (Tank, Tyrese, Usher, Robin, Jon. B., Trey, Jamie) or what my daughter and her friend like to term  Ridiculously Black Slow Jams,  love songs (mostly women here, because after all, I am. I loveeee Adel) because it seems to stimulate my brain for what it is exactly that I need to write. And don't even get me started on Musiq Soulchild's Beautiful! God, I loveee this song!

But as I was listening to it, Trey Songz to be exact, Role Play I wondered to myself;

“Why aren’t men really like this?”

If you’ve watched any of his videos, you would think that he was in actuality, the “Black Casanova”, because the sensuality just exudes from his videos. After that I had an urge to watch the video, and I was still amazed at how men just don’t seem to get it?

To my Male Counter parts out there;

This is what a woman wants!!!

Usher’s Trading Places is one of the hottest videos out there, and I suddenly thought; if men spent as much time watching these types of videos as they do say “Fucken Sports!” They would have a clue as to how a woman wants to be treated intimately, and essentially score major fricken brownie points.

( I actually dated someone who put it down like that lol, but we pretty much couldn't have a civil conversation; but it was that insane intimacy that kept us coming back to each other).

Sadly enough, most men think that artist like Drake, Tyrese, Trey, and Usher  are punks, because they give up too much shit. But here’s the thing guys, if you took even the slightest amount of advice from their songs; you know that hot chick that you’ve been after for so long?

She would ultimately melt in your arms, if you took your head out cha ass for like two seconds and said hummm, “Maybe there is something to this.” I swear, she would be eternally yours.

Even if you’re well endowed if you don’t know how to use it, and when I say use it, not just the sex; but the sensuality of it, then you’re still a douche. But learning, is fun, and maybe even actually go so far as to ask her what “She” wants.

You might just be the guy that women fight over.

Have you ever wondered why that amazing looking chick was with what you would consider a douche or a nerd? It’s because they put her first (sexually, sensually, and emotionally) there is no such thing as emotionless sex, no matter how both sexes like to think that there is.Yet, to my male compradors, this intimacy is what keeps her there!

If you find that your relationship is lacking, your marrage just doesn't have that spark sexually anymore, or something is just missing; try reading Women's Fiction.

Even if it isn't manly, to you its actually research ;)

Whether its a sexy Paranormal, a Hot Steamy Contemporary, or that Sensual Historical fiction:P they all have one thing in common; they were written by Women and for Women. What better way to know the mind of a woman, or what she wants then to read it? Its there in plain English, what she wants, what she dreams, or her wildest fantasy...

And if you're a guy who dates women of color, (African-American, Latina ect) you had better invest in some ethnic culture. The one major thing that the above artist have in common; is that women all over the world LOVE them, no matter what Race or Creed, and you know why? Because they speak to the heart of the women, and what she wants intimately...

Justa thought.

If you’re a male reading this, women know what other women want. It’s just like when my younger brother used to say when I asked him about some guy I was dating; He said, “Don’t ask another man about a man, unless you want the truth.” That goes for us women too ;)

WTF??

  :o WTF??

Okay, so I was looking up new trailers for the 2012 summer block buster. I happen to be on youtube, and thought I'd watch the new trailer for the Hobbit. It was good lol, and I can't wait to see it.

I started reading some of the posts, and was quite shocked at one that I read. The writer actually had the nerve to say that he wouldn't watch the movie, because the actor who plays Gandalf is played by an openly gay actor Ian McKellen.

Well this not only shocked me, but I was like can people really be this nasty?

Someone really had the balls to say that they wouldn't watch this movie, which will more than likely ( because Peter Jackson is back) be an amazing movie; because Ian McKellen is an openly gay actor?

Omg! WTF?

Ian McKellen is an amazing actor!

This is one of the problems that I have with the internet. People post some fake ass picture of themselves, avatars, celeb pics, or no picture at all, then they get to post the most racist, hateful, violent dribble known to man; all because there is no liability, and they don't have to take responsibility for what they say or do because of the anonymity!!

As the late great Bernie Mac would say, "This is some bullshit!" :/

My feelings; to the guy who said that, you need to f'n grow up; because for something like that to come out of your  mouth shows your maturity level; no matter how old you are, and to anyone like you who thinks the same. I swear Homophobes have issues that neither science nor psychology can help.

But then I guess I shouldn't be too shocked because this is the society that we live in, where we bash others to make ourselves feel like we're something we're really not:roll:.

I say Rock on Ian, and then blow kisses to them from your amazingly talented British Arse!!! :P

What does it all mean :(

Posted on May 14, 2012 at 9:15 PM Comments comments (0)

So,

Cruising some of my sites that i subscribe to, I found myselfwondering; why is it that because the internet offers some for of anonymity, dopeople just run with that?

I like to use a lot of slang. I'm guessing that fact that I'm anLiterature teacher, I have to speak in proper English all day long; so I kindafeel like when I'm at home it's kewl. Well I was actually taken to task for myusage of slang, and not once but twice trashed for it.

I happen to belong to this one site, that promotes dating as well aswriting, and some tool said that because I used a lot of slang, which hemistook for misspellings, there was no way in hell that I could be anLiterature/Art History Teacher. (Me personally, I believe it was just sourgrapes cuz i turned his triflin ass down tee-hee).

Yet today, once again someone made a rather nasty comment about my slang. Heeven went so far as to imply that anyone who uses slang, can't possible expectpeople to take them seriously as a writer. Can we say Pretentious ass Fuck! That’s the only thing I hate about the internet. Because people can hide their identity,it means that no one has to take responsibility for what they actually say.

Anyway, I wasn't rude to him when i explained my point, but Laura, yourock gurl for gettin my back!

So, what I'll do is post the same forum that I did there about Eroticand near Erotic Romance writer.

Thanks a bunch guys

So,

after much contemplating and wrangling with myself, I have solved the conundrum of to indie publish or just wait for another traditional publisher.

Okay, most you know that A Lad's Trousers will be released from EternalPress the 1st of Aug. and I'm totally excited about that. But I started doing some research into indie publishing, and was amazed at just how many authors are actually doing this, and the fact that its very reputable!I got loads of info from LinkedIn, and it just seems more feasible, economic, and actually fun to do this myself.:P

So, I thought why not self published books 1 of the Fae series Teacher's Pet, Book 2 Teach Me the Night, and book 1 Educating Lies of the Contemporary women's fiction. So I started to diligently look into that, and the royalties thing alone made my hair stand up. I was both shocked and elated.

What does this mean?

It means that those three titles above, I will be publishing myself so start looking for them starting June 15th @ Amazon, Create Space and a host of other sites

I'm Lovin Today...

Posted on March 31, 2012 at 12:40 AM Comments comments (0)

3/28/12 So,

Happy about today, manuscript sent off to start the tedious editing part, and I give editors all props! This is such a time consuming job. Not to mention, the author always accuses you of changing the voice of the character lol, (me sometimes too, but I've been very good at accepting change). So instead of Shades of Grey, which I really liked this title; the book is now called A Lad's Trousers lol. I kinda liked the word play, and the fact that she disguises herself as a boy to escape a murder trial.

If you want to check it out lol. These things are really time consuming! seriously. I got a complaint from someone on my other site stating that the trailer's words flew by too fast, and she couldn't actually read it. So, thinking that if one was like that, they all were; so I commenced to re-do all 13 videos, and it took me almost 3 fricken days! Is that crazy or what? I seriously need a new Comp, (for all my fam and friends out thar, good idea for Mama's day present tee-hee) because the one that I have is so ancient and obsolete, that Toshiba would probably laugh hysterically in my face! :)

Anyhoo, I finished them last nite, and uploaded half to youtube, but you know how they have that copyright thin is you use someone else's song, they send you that lil message. Which was the reason that I never did it before, but I'm having issues at my this site with spacing for trailers, and the staff is being a bunch of f...well never mind, but they certainly aren't helping the situation. So as soon as I have that rectified, you can catch the entire 13 book here, as well as read the excepts of the books.

No Starbucks in weeks! Ugh! Got my internet situation taken care of, so I'm not having to pop off to Starbucks to post, or just take care of things, and I'm really missing the atmosphere :(

It always inspires me to write. Oh well, I guess I'll have to think of something else, although, I am seriously fening for a 9 pump Chai, with 6 shots of Gingerbread in it. YUM! I miss :)

 3/23/12

  Well hey,

So, the drama of last few weeks is over. And for that I am completely happy, I just hope that it doesn't get me black listed from certain reviewers and sites. . So with all of the shite of the last weeks, something kewl came from it. I was offered a new contract from my publishing company for Shades of Grey, my historical fiction book. To say that I was ecstatic would be an understatement lol, but I'm totally stoked.

This was the silver lining of last week. So, finally I'm done with book 11, but as I was going through them, I decided to put in more of the Council.

I noticed that throughout all 11 books so far, that there was only a few incidents that they actually came face to face with them, so I decided to incorporate them through out the book, so that you, my readers can see how truly diabolical they actually are. I think you'll like what I've done, because I had so much fun writing it. I like the fact that i get to be devious, calculating and just plain evil, and have to answer to no one for it, because it's not really me haha.

So book 11 is done, and we have, enter the Titans. But Arieanna doesn't know that, and I certainly won't tell you who it is, you have to read it...

As for the reviews, (I'm over the Bitten by Paranormal Romance by Artemis) but I feel like the Coffee Time one had some valid points about the book, but then I feel like to each his own. I guess when we as writers write, we sometimes forget that we have an audience to write to. But at the same time, you can't please everyone. When I wrote Teaching Between Midnight and Dawn, I had a goal and a picture, or a filmstrip in my head that I could see rolling as i wrote. Maybe the fact that i am a teacher took over where the myths were concerned, but as for my fans they actually said that they loved it; despite what the Reviewer Artemis said about it being a snooze fest.

I think that's why i had such an aversion to what she wrote. I think there is a way to say that you don't like something, and being honest if fine. Just act like an adult when you do it. I take comfort in the fact that people actually championed my book on her site, and contrary to what they posted, I have no clue who those people are; except to say that i am truly proud that they stood up for me, and are my fans.

Stay tuned for new updates on the progress of Shades of Grey, as well as Teach Me the Night, the second book in the teaching between midnight and dawn series.

What an amazing day after the rain, huh? I swear I'm lovin it. So anyway, rite now I'm working on the trailer for not Shades of Grey, but A Lad's Trouser's. Apparently another author for my publishing company has a book titled a shade of grey, and they didn't want it to get confused wit hers; so I opted to change the name instead. So, the trailer should be up soon, stay a while and check it how, and send me a shout out so that I know you stopped by! :) Alie out!
